Extension of temporary arrangement for vouchers

08/07/2021 – From 16 March 2020, vouchers (which meet the conditions) issued by organisations signed up to VZR Garant for travel cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic have been covered by the VZR Garant guarantee scheme.

On 6 July 2021, the Board of VZR Garant decided to extend this temporary arrangement for the cover provided for vouchers. In addition to the previously communicated conditions, the following supplementary conditions also apply:

• For all vouchers with an expiry date before 30 September 2021, VZR Garant’s guarantee is extended until 30 September 2021. To give an example, this means that vouchers with an expiry date in March 2021 will now be covered by the VZR Garant guarantee scheme for more than an additional six months.
• The voucher may not be reissued for guarantee extension purposes. No action needs to be taken by either the participant or the traveller.

It goes without saying that the extension applies only to those vouchers that were already covered by the VZR Garant guarantee. All conditions can be found here. For the sake of completeness, we would like to emphasise that no new vouchers with VZR Garant cover may be issued after 31 March 2021.

For vouchers with an expiry date later than 30 September 2021, guarantee scheme cover will continue to apply until the expiry date on the voucher. The VZR Garant Board may decide to adjust this time frame in response to further developments.
